The bridge is a big connection point in the park but sees relatively little foot traffic. There are wide sidewalks on both sides of the road with guardrails between the sidewalk and the road. The connections to the SRT and MLK drive are not well marked but this bridge allows for great combinations of routes on both sides of the river.

Parkside Avenue

Parkside Avenue loops around the West edge of Fairmount Park with beautiful woods on one side and historic architecture on the other. The Southern section has a wide sidewalk, but headed North you'll have to cross the road a few times to find a safe place to run. North of Wynnefield Ave the intersection to get to Belmont Mansion Road is a bit confusing.
Use caution when crossing the road to navigate the intersections at the Northern end.
Fountain Green Drive

Spring Garden Bridge

MLK Drive

MLK Drive runs along the West side of the Schuylkill from the Art Museum to East Falls. On summer weekends the road is closed to car traffic between East Falls and Sweet Briar Lane. There is a paved path along the road which can be used when the road is not closed, but it is not well maintained.
Boxers' Trail - Dirt Section

The dirt section of Boxers' Trail is one of the best wooded trails in Philly, following the rim of the pleateau of the Parkland area. The trail winds up and down several rollings hills, offering views of the Schuylkill. At the Southern end, you can connect to the SRT via Fountain Green Dr and one of the few traffic lights across Kelly Drive.

Strawberry Mansion Bridge

The Strawberry Mansion Bridge is my favorite river crossing. It's a beautiful old steel truss bridge originally built to carry a trolley around Fairmount Park, and was fully restored in the early 90s. There is a wide boardwalk for pedestrians on both sides of the bridge and beautiful views in all directions.

Heading North, the trail runs parallel to the creek under the Walnut Lane bridge. From there, you can follow the Orange Trail to Forbidden Drive at Kitchens Lane.
Forbidden Drive

Pencoyd Trail - West

When the paved trail ends, you can continue under I-76 until you can locate a tunnel underneath the train tracks. After crossing under the train tracks, the trail runs up a steep canyon to the Cynwyd Heritage Trail. Coming from the Cynwyd side, you'll notice a dirt path veering off into the woods and a sign warning you that the train is not maintained. Take the first left here to make sure you end up at the tunnel under the train tracks, or you may end up on a steep slope and have to cross the train tracks on foot.

Pencoyd Trail - East

The Pencoyd Trail runs in between Downtown Manayunk and the Cynwyd Heritage Trail. On the Manayunk side, it crosses the river across the Pencoyd Bridge, then runs on a paved trail past an apartment complex on the West side of the river.
Orange Trail - Valley Green - Blue Bell

South from Valley Green, the White Trail runs past Devil's Pool, a popular swimming hole which can be super crowded in the summer. Headed South from there, the trail runs parallel to the river, and similar to other sections of the Orange Trail, it is rugged and rough going. By Livezy Lane you'll go through one of the more interesting features on any trail in the area, the Fingerspan Bridge.

Yellow Trail - Southern Section

The section of the Yellow Trail in between Lincoln Drive and the Janette Street Trailhead climbs up from Lincoln Drive and follows the rim of the canyon while staying above the Lovers' Leap Trail. The rocky trail runs up and down above Forbidden Drive under the Walnut Lane Bridge. Around the Henry Ave Bridge there are many side trails and it can be easy to get lost.
Cynwyd Heritage Trail

Former rail line converted to a wide paved trail in between Manayunk and Cynwyd Station. There is a large bridge over the Schuylkill which connects to Manayunk which offers excellent views. From the river up to Cynwyd there is a consistent incline.
Morris Park East Branch Trail

The East Branch Trail through Morris Park is a beautiful, well maintained trail which follows the East Branch through beautiful forests.

The West Branch Trail runs alongside the West Branch of Indian Creek from City Line Ave to the Charles A. Papa Playground though wild landscapes and scenery. The West Branch of the creek is gorgeous and the geology around the creek is very unique for this area. You'll find beautiful small waterfalls around Indian Rock and other points. At the Southern end, the trail loops around a small pond with interesting views.
As of June 2021 this trail is very overgrown and hard to follow at points.

This long paved trail runs through Cobbs Creek Park, sometimes along roadways and sometimes along the creek itself, along the Western edge of the city. It is well-maintained and runs past several park areas and side trails down to the creek.

Tacony Creek Trail

Unique among the trails which follow rivers in Philadelphia, the Tacony Creek Trail is paved. The trail follows the river for close to 3 miles from Juniata Park to the city border with Cheltenham. The trail crosses under several large bridges, similar to Pennypack Park.
Mill Creek Valley Park - Upper Trail

This trail runs higher up the valley wall than the Lower Trail, and is less maintained. There is also a clearing up here where an oil pipeline runs that can make following the trail challenging.

Read Trail

This loop to the West of the Riverbend Environmental Center is hard to find (not marked), but you'll be rewarded with excellent views of Conshohocken and a remote stretch of forest above the Conshohocken Curve on 76. The Southern entrance off the Sassafras Trail is easier to find. When headed South from the main pavilion, you'll see a trail headed to the West leading to a gate. From the gate, continue on the path to Aloha Lane. Make a left on Aloha Lane, then a right on Bryn Tyddyn Drive. Approximately 0.15 miles down Bryn Tydden Drive, you'll see a path headed into the woods on the right. From here, the path is easy to follow (if not well maintained), and will lead you back to Riverbend.
Respect private property when route finding.

Pennypack Park - Rhawn Street South

Hopkins Pond Loop

From the main parking area at Pennypacker Park this path crosses the river then runs up a hill to Hopkins Pond near downtown Haddonfield. The loop around the pond is beautiful, but a bit rugged (exposed roots, etc.). There are many side trails which connect to nearby streets.

This dirt path runs parallel to the river through the length of the park through beautiful forests. It is rocky in places and can stay muddy and wet for days after a large rain.
Greenwald Trail- South Loop
