During the 2020 COVID-19 quarantine period, I started running more than I have since high school. Given how crowded the Schuylkill River Trail is through Center City, I started driving out to Fairmount Park and have ended up exploring different parts of the park almost every day. I've realized that there aren't great trail maps of Fairmount Park (or other trails in the city), so decided to build my own.As as side project, I decided to build this mapping platform from scratch with the features I think would be useful. I love maps, especially trail maps (of all kinds), and this has been a fun way to combine that with working on my software engineering skills. I plan to continue working on this in my spare time, and would like to get to the point where new instances of the map can be created for other locations.
All of the content on the site is from my own experience exploring Philadephia. All advice offered here is to be taken at your own risk. Use common sense and general safety precautions at all times. Use special caution when crossing some of our crazy roads, most notably Kelly Drive and Girard.
